Autumn on the skin: time to change your skincare! Why it's important and how to start
Share
Summer is over – with it the sun, the heat and the constant sprinkling of SPF spray. But what's left on the skin? Dehydrated skin , pigmentation spots , enlarged pores and often a weakened skin barrier .
Fall isn't just a new season - it's a transition where your skin needs extra support. Now is the perfect time to update your skincare routine , add active ingredients, and "repair the damage" that summer left behind.
💧 1. Hydration — on a new level
In the summer, we preferred light gels and sprays to avoid a heavy feeling on the face. But in the fall, the skin loses moisture faster — the heating season, wind, and temperature fluctuations do their job.
What to change:
Replace the gel cream with a richer cream that contains, for example, ceramides, squalane or beta-glucan.
Add a serum with hyaluronic acid (best — multimolecular)
Don't be afraid of oils , especially in evening care (e.g. jojoba or rosehip oil)
💡 Tip: Apply the cream to slightly damp skin (e.g. after toner) to "lock in" moisture.
🍂 2. Active ingredients we feared in the summer
Fall is the best time for ingredients we used to avoid because of the sun:
Retinol – helps with wrinkles, acne, and dull complexion
Acids ( BHA/PHA/ AHA) – exfoliate, make the skin clearer
Niacinamide – minimizes pores, balances sebum and evens out skin tone
Exosomes, peptides – strengthen and restore skin
⚠️ Start slowly. One new ingredient at a time to see how your skin reacts.
🎯 3. Working with “damage”: time to fix
Summer leaves its mark on the skin:
Pigmentation spots
Blackheads and clogged pores
Loss of firmness
Autumn is a time to restore and recover:
✔ Clay masks + serums with exosomes = cleansing + renewal
✔ Creams with collagen, niacinamide and peptides = elasticity support
✔ Dark spot lightening serums with vitamin C, arbutin or licorice extract
🔁 4. New routine, but with caution
In autumn, the skin becomes more sensitive. Dry air and temperature changes weaken the skin barrier.
Important:
Support the skin barrier (see ingredients: ceramides, panthenol, centella)
Avoid “active ingredient overdose” – less is more
Moisturize both morning and evening
Follow what your skin needs, not what trends say
🧴 5. SPF? Yes, still
A mistake many people make in the fall: "No sun = no SPF needed."
False. UVA rays penetrate clouds and window glass and are responsible for skin aging and age spots .
SPF is just as important in the fall as it is in the summer — just choose a texture that suits your fall skin (for example, a more nourishing creamy SPF).
📌 Checklist for fall maintenance:
✅ Richer hydration
✅ Strengthening the skin barrier
✅ Gently but consistently active ingredients
✅ Special care for pigmentation, pores, dull skin
✅ SPF every day
✅ Don't forget your neck and hands — they age even faster than your face
✨ Final word
Autumn doesn't mean tiredness and grayness — but a new beginning for the skin .
It's time to give your skin what it didn't get in the summer: recovery, deep hydration, and strength.
Take this time for yourself.
Because good skin is not an accident — it's a habit.
